The essay examines the evolution of the judiciary in Poland, with particular regard to the governing body of the judiciary. The relevant institutions of socialist and post-socialist law are analyzed, in the various phases that culminated, starting from 2015, in the neo-authoritarian involution of the current Polish illiberal democracy. The numerous critical issues of the current institutional structure are highlighted, imagining their possible future overcoming.
