Then, the options of expression of this relationship will be considered, beginning with complex purposive and causal sentences containing conjunctions such as čtoby (‘in order to’) and potomu čto (‘because’), moving on to phrasal prepositions containing a predicative noun, such as s nadeždoj (literally ‘with the hope’), through to coordinative sentences and two juxtaposed utterances in the domain of textual coherence, where the purposive relationship is completely inferred. An approach highlighting the possibility of expressing a specific conceptual relationship by means of different linguistic options can find useful application in foreign language and translation teaching.
