The research retraces the history of labour in Valcamonica’s hydroelectric sector, proposing its educational use in a museum setting. In this pre-alpine valley in Cedegolo (BS), in 2008 was open the Hydroelectric Energy Museum (part of the Museum of Industry and Labour in Brescia). In this space the intent is to value the historical dimension of the encounter between science and technology, as well as the stories of those who have participated in various ways to the realization of the local hydroelectric system. At the beginning of the XX in Valcamonica the first example of a complete exploitation of the Oglio river, aimed to the production of electricity. The massive presence of industrial plants, with seasonal pools, power plants and power lines, has profoundly transformed the area in environmental, economic, social and cultural terms. Thus, the central theme of this Dissertation is the reconstruction of the hydroelectric world, approached not only in terms of the financial and corporate logic of the companies that built the plants, but instead from a human perspective, through the stories of those who have actively participated to the creation of this hydro electrical system. The research develops in three sections. The first section reconstructs the history of hydroelectric power in Valcamonica from its origins until its nationalization. The second section focuses on the history of labour, partly retraced using unpublished archival materials. Lastly the third section is centred on the Museum of Cedegolo. For the purpose of this research the most recent indications of museum didactics, as well as examples of best practices nationally and internationally have been examined. On the basis of this study, suggestions have been advanced in order to further highlight the history of labour and industry, with the use of innovative tools, computer media and new ways of involving the public.
