This paper is divided into three paragraphs. • It looks for normative aspects in awareness that in Italian legislation we don’t have such definition. The only one reference is in our code (codice della strada), where we found the defi nition of residential area. • It investigates some Italian and European case studies and drafts a comparison matrix. • It presents a project for a 20 mph zone for the Longuelo area in Bergamo (Italy), where it gives priority to pedestrians and cycles displacements. The plan proposes straight and safe pedestrians and cycles links among the different polarities.
