Car sharing provides to reduce cars, parked beside the roads. Car pooling provides to reduce cars, moving on the roads. We have different typologies of car sharing. Usually public sector offers car sharing in modality fix, otherwise private companies offers car sharing in modality flex. There is another option for car sharing: that is when citizen get available his own car to share with others. Usually everyone uses his own car 1 hour/day, other 23 hours the car stay parked beside the street, better use it to make money. Recent studies told us that a shared car saves 4-7 car parks. The most important thing in the topic car sharing is parking areas: that has to be safe, secure, well located and doesn't require a lot of man oeuvre to park the car. In Italy we have to learn to share car sharing with other sustainable moving ways as cycle, pedestrian or public transport.
