This essay focuses on the influence of neurological studies on modern German poetry; since Georg Buechner's poetics, based on the dialogue between the studies on the human brain and literature, neurological science has played an important role in the definition of a new poetical ductus. With particular reference to the verses by G.Benn and D. Gruenbein, the essay aims at showing how modern and contemporary poetry has often developed its images and structure with reference to the concepts of neurological science.

Abstract
