The present research explores the perception and consumption of heritage in Belgrade, Serbia. The research hypothesis is that the natural and cultural heritage around the confluence of the rivers Sava and Danube in Belgrade has not been adequately researched and/or interpreted having in mind its crucial role in the birth and development of the city. Another issue this research has addressed is the lack of awareness, among citizens of Belgrade, of their multicultural identity, which is a consequence of a city being located at the “crossroad”. Interdisciplinary methodology has pointed out flaws perpetuated by the socio-political system and governmental bodies in Belgrade while analysing radical urban transformations happening there that reflect the conservation and development of its culture and heritage sites. In conclusion, the thesis proposes an interdisciplinary project – an audio-visual exhibition – a tool to initiate a re-visitation of researched, problematic heritage in Belgrade.
