Gotffried Benn's Autobiography is not only a critical analysis of German culture: the so called montage-technique, which assembles in this work long quotations from the poet's prose works, from his essays and poems, transforms the autobiography in a poetical reflection on the relationship between art and political power and on the docrtine of Artistik. Amelia Valtolina's postscript discusses the biographical and aesthetic elements of Benn's doctrine of "double life" and focuses particularly on the poet's style in this masterpiece of German modern literature.

Abstract
Gotffried Benn's Autobiography is not only a critical analysis of German culture: the so called montage-technique, which assembles in this work long quotations from the poet's prose works, from his essays and poems, transforms the autobiography in a poetical reflection on the relationship between art and political power and on the docrtine of Artistik. Amelia Valtolina's postscript discusses the biographical and aesthetic elements of Benn's doctrine of "double life" and focuses particularly on the poet's style in this masterpiece of German modern literature.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
