CIAM 1949+70. Eredità, prospettive, programmi

The book is based on the reflections developed during the CIAM 1949-2019 conference held in Bergamo seventy years after the seventh CIAM International Congress of Modern Architecture, also held in Bergamo in 1949. The contemporary reinterpretation of the founding themes of CIAM 1949 takes on the strong ideals and design tensions that ran through it: tensions and confidence in shaping the future that represent the greatest lesson of the CIAM season. The range of contributions represents a fresco of the themes and challenges open to urban design today, faced with the classic dilemma: to innovate or succumb.

Il volume muove dalla riflessione sviluppata nel convegno CIAM 1949-2019 tenutosi a Bergamo a settanta anni dal settimo Congresso Internazionale di Architettura Moderna CIAM, tenutosi anch'esso a Bergamo nel 1949. La rilettura in chiave contemporanea dei temi fondativi del CIAM 1949 assume l'idealità forte e le tensioni progettuali che lo hanno attraversato: tensioni e fiducia nel dare forma al futuro che rappresentano l'insegnamento più grande della stagione dei CIAM. Il ventaglio dei contributi rappresenta un affresco dei temi e delle sfide aperte per la progettazione urbana ai nostri giorni, posta di fronte al dilemma classico: innovare o soccombere.
