How is masculinity constructed in and through care work? How is care work carried out when it is carried out by men? These are the questions that the volume seeks to answer which, combining the use of innovative and traditional research methods. It compares the experiences of men employed in a health care profession such as nursing; in an educational care profession such as of (future) childhood teachers and educators; in an activity such as that of sex workers which is not yet socially recognized as work, neither as care work nor, even more so, as a profession. The volume thus offers a new, intersectional and interdisciplinary perspective, which calls into question the ways in which care, masculinity and work are socially and culturally thought about and studied.

Abstract
How is masculinity constructed in and through care work? How is care work carried out when it is carried out by men? These are the questions that the volume seeks to answer which, combining the use of innovative and traditional research methods. It compares the experiences of men employed in a health care profession such as nursing; in an educational care profession such as of (future) childhood teachers and educators; in an activity such as that of sex workers which is not yet socially recognized as work, neither as care work nor, even more so, as a profession. The volume thus offers a new, intersectional and interdisciplinary perspective, which calls into question the ways in which care, masculinity and work are socially and culturally thought about and studied.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
