Les portes du rêve. 1924–2024: Surrealism through Its Journals

The project Les portes du rêve. 1924-2024: Surrealism through its Journals was conceived on the occasion of the centenary of the publication of the first Manifeste du surréalisme (15 October 1924), proposing a review of the various cultural components (artistic, literary, theatrical, photographic and cinematographic, but also philosophical-political and ideological) that contributed to determining a specific ‘space’ of creativity occupied by the Surrealist experience. This volume intends to reread the parabola of the movement through the study of some of the magazines animated by its components, i.e. the collective products that most effectively revealed its interdisciplinary complexity and theoretical strength, but also its contradictions and internal conflicts. On the other hand, the essays collected in this volume reveal the role played by the journals as veritable laboratories of Surrealism.
