This dissertation proposes an analysis of the narrated city in contemporary Latin American narrative. The city will be examined not only as a literary theme but also as a literary convention: the narrated city as a mechanical contrivance and design. The dissertation, thus, seeks to study the city as something that can be devised and thought of inventively. In other words, the city as a fictional and ideological interzone for narration and invention. This study aims to use the idea of the city as a narrative device in Latin American literature, having a concrete incidence on the anthropological, sociological and historical approach on the idea of the city as a space of interaction of contemporary Man. It intends to specify the necessity of transforming that space (fictionally) in a zone for narration and to delimitate the concept of city taking into account the diversity and differences between Latin American cities. This study is thus centered in texts that allow the analysis of the contemporary Latin American urban milieu, especially those written in the last decade of the twentieth century and in the first decade of the twenty-first century, which for their geographical and literary hybridism can be considered as defining of an identity and a poetics.

Abstract
This study is thus centered in texts that allow the analysis of the contemporary Latin American urban milieu, especially those written in the last decade of the twentieth century and in the first decade of the twenty-first century, which for their geographical and literary hybridism can be considered as defining of an identity and a poetics.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
