In addition to being essential for economic and personal growth, work is one of the factors that most determine inclusion of people with disabilities in society. Disability management analysis has addressed the issue of matching companies’ productivity goals with the needs of workers through “reasonable accommodation” conceived as an interactive process involving both employee and employer. Our research aims to identify the factors that influence the hiring process of disabled people and facilitate inclusion in the workplace. Focusing on a sample of small and medium Italian enterprises, we analyzed the process which facilitate or hinder a successful job placement, exploring which kind of “accommodations” promote positive performance of the worker, as well as the way they are designed and implemented.
