Abstract

Reading the dimensions of the relationship between the University and the urban reality of reference, especially in terms of urban regeneration of parts of the city, represents an exercise practiced in several contexts, but in which ample margins are recognizable for the building of a new widespread awareness. The crossing of urban readings between ephemeral and permanences, which characterizes the 2017 edition of Iconemi, calls for a profound reflection on the renewal of the economies (in the three declinations, necessarily integrated, productive, social and cultural) which represents the key project challenge for contemporary cities. Particularly worthy of attention are the gentrification trajectories (Semi 2015) that characterize parts of the city, driven by commercial logics that are well combined with the "fashionable" practices of the city and with a tourist market shaped by the construction of territorial brands. Of course, reflection on the ephemeral and on the temporary that urges us to think beyond the nostalgia of the past, assuming together the components of fragility-caducity and fruitful "temporary durability" (Adobati 2018) that these processes contain.
