The well-being (WB) measurement is an important and challenging task. Quality of life is a multifaceted topic, thus its measure cannot rely anymore on one or few indicators only. Data from large-scale survey projects, such as the European Social Survey (ESS), are a solid basis for testing new methods aimed at measuring the phenomenon. We apply Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to ESS wave 8 data. Our research aims at evaluating if SEM is a reliable method for estimating the WB and the relative importance of its dimensions in some European countries.

Abstract
The well-being (WB) measurement is an important and challenging task. Quality of life is a multifaceted topic, thus its measure cannot rely anymore on one or few indicators only. Data from large-scale survey projects, such as the European Social Survey (ESS), are a solid basis for testing new methods aimed at measuring the phenomenon. We apply Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to ESS wave 8 data. Our research aims at evaluating if SEM is a reliable method for estimating the WB and the relative importance of its dimensions in some European countries.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
