The article analyzes the scene of Hercules’ madness in Seneca’s Hercules furens in relationship with its models, focusing in particular on the killing of the youngest son, who dies of fear in seeing the terrible gaze of his father, before receiving the fatal blow, and on the reuse of the theme of Hercules’ murderous gaze in the Hercules Oetaeus.
