The chapter deals with the policing activities which took place in the province of Mantua in the fourth decade of the Ninteenth Century, within the Reign of Lombardy-Venetia, focusing on some cases that may be considered typical. It also maps the actual organization that was in charge of policing, combining officials and armed force distributed on the provincial territory, paying attention to the mutual relations and portraying the most significant officials among the personnel in service at the time.
