In order to analyse the features characterizing the binomial “self-determination and disability”, the present paper highlights the conceptualizations underling the psycho-pedagogical model of self-de-termination elaborated by the Functional Model and the Causal Agency Theory. In particular, in trac-ing conceptual and epistemological intersections between these theories and the analytic philosophy (especially, Donald Davidson’s works), the author draws attention to some ethical-philosophical issues opened up by these psycho-pedagogical theories. This confirms the crucial role played by the self-determination construct within the contemporary debate on adult disability.

Abstract
In order to analyse the features characterizing the binomial “self-determination and disability”, the present paper highlights the conceptualizations underling the psycho-pedagogical model of self-de-termination elaborated by the Functional Model and the Causal Agency Theory. In particular, in trac-ing conceptual and epistemological intersections between these theories and the analytic philosophy (especially, Donald Davidson’s works), the author draws attention to some ethical-philosophical issues opened up by these psycho-pedagogical theories. This confirms the crucial role played by the self-determination construct within the contemporary debate on adult disability.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
