In this paper, the Generation and Transmission Expansion Planning (GTEP) problem, considering two case studies, is analyzed. In the first case, the GEP and TEP problems are considered separately, while in the second GEP and TEP problems are solved together, thus GTEP problem appears. The objective function of the mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) problem is minimizing the expected generation costs, load-shedding costs and investment costs. The planner can modify the presented mathematical model in order to satisfy any other system requirements considering GTEP problem. The approach presented in this paper is a deterministic static one. The investment decision is considered to be made at the beginning of the planning horizon.
