The Life of the Holy Empress Theophano (BHG 1794) offers interesting and so far neglected information about the cult of the Patriarch Methodios and his healing tomb at the end of the 9th - beginning of the 10th century. The article investigates for what reason the cult of Theophano and Methodios could be interconnected and suggests some prosopographical and chronological suggestions for the Constantinopolitan élite of the 9th century.
