L’archivio di Antonio Greppi. Una nuova fonte per la storia del socialismo milanese (e italiano)

The aim of this article is reconstructing the work we have done to re-order the private archive of Antonio Greppi, the first mayor of Milan after World War II. In the first part we briefly examine Greppi’s political story, focusing not only on the period when he was head of Milan city council, but also on his role in the Italian socialism both in the years between World War I and the fascist age, and in the republican period. In the second part we illustrate the steps that will enable the public consultation of this unpublished archival fund, especially disclosing the specific circumstances and stages of the intervention, such as, for example, the scanning, printing and making of the paper-based system. The ultimate goal before opening its consultation was to build a valuable archival tree for 12.042 records constituting Greppi’s fund.
