Despite the fact that few critical remarks have been devoted to the silent dialogue between Benn's poetical theory of form and Stefan George's oeuvre, the confrontation of the younger poet with George's poetry can be traced throughout Benn's poettry and essays. This article aims at the reconstruction of this dialogue from a philological and theoretical point of view.
