Abstract
The debate on the screen, on its peculiar physiognomy and on its contempo-rary features, seems to be one of the most prominent nowadays. In this context,it is maybe possible to adopt a different point of view on these topics, approachingthe problem from a different theoretical perspective. Focusing on the concept oficonostasisproposed by Florenskij, the paper aims to propose a critical rethinkingof these categories in the contemporary mediascape. After a general overviewon Florenskij’s image theory, the paper will focus on four specific case-studies,belonging to horror cinema, that seems to be able to explore specific key pointsof this theoretical approach (e.g. the link between the concepts of surface, ma-teriality and images; the image itself as an object where the border between vis-ible and invisible becomes evident; the temporal inversion produced by the dream image).File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
