Abstract

Anastrophe of the preposition perì 'about' plus genitive is investigated in its origin and in its function with the usual and regular word order. It is clear, from some examples, taken from Aristophanes and Plato, that the two patterns are not simply stylistic variants but perform different functions both pragmatically and grannatically.
