What are the contemporary tendencies in museum labels? What do the visitors expect from a label: the i.d. of the object/work of art or rather its multiple, possibile interpretations? And who provides the latter? Starting from a few historical case studies, such as the famous "Mostra del tempo libero" at the Triennale of 1964 with contributions by Umberto Eco, Vittorio Gregotti, Luigi Meneghetti, Giotto Stoppino, Luciano Damiani, Massimo Vignelli, Tinto Brass and Nanni Balestrini, the articles draws a framework for the current debate, at the crossline of semiotics, contemporary art, museum studies and linguistics.

What are the contemporary tendencies in museum labels? What do the visitors expect from a label: the i.d. of the object/work of art or rather its multiple, possibile interpretations? And who provides the latter? Starting from a few historical case studies, such as the famous "Mostra del tempo libero" at the Triennale of 1964 with contributions by Umberto Eco, Vittorio Gregotti, Luigi Meneghetti, Giotto Stoppino, Luciano Damiani, Massimo Vignelli, Tinto Brass and Nanni Balestrini, the articles draws a framework for the current debate, at the crossline of semiotics, contemporary art, museum studies and linguistics.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
