La Sezione introduttiva alla Triennale del 1964. Per una semiotica del dubbio

The article focuses on the "Spare Time Exhibition" held at the 1964 Triennale in Milan (layout designed by Vittorio Gregotti). By analysing the documents (written, audio, visual) preserved at the Triennale Archives, as well as the related litterature, the article describes a complex web of cultural interrelations: its has to do with the new "economic boom" esthetics, with the new languages developed by Gruppo 63, with the verbo-visual experimentations by Nanni Balestrini and many more stimula, under the direction of Umberto Eco. The role of the two short films shoot for the occasion by Tinto Brass is considered crucial within this frame. New languages are being born at the beginning of the decade, and the exhibition represents a perfect stage for them.
