The text analysed the role played by three preminent Italian architects in shaping a colonial visual landscape for the architecture of the Twenties and Fourties. Starting from a first-hand knowledge of the Horn of Africa, where they had all been as travellers (or in the case of Caccia Dominioni as military leard), these architects have provided a cultural connection among the "motherland" and the Italian colonies in both directions. The chapter is based on documents studied in the architects' personal archives.

Abstract
The text analysed the role played by three preminent Italian architects in shaping a colonial visual landscape for the architecture of the Twenties and Fourties. Starting from a first-hand knowledge of the Horn of Africa, where they had all been as travellers (or in the case of Caccia Dominioni as military leard), these architects have provided a cultural connection among the "motherland" and the Italian colonies in both directions. The chapter is based on documents studied in the architects' personal archives.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
