The essay traces a history of the landscape in modern and contemporary German poetry, showing how the conception of nature which it implies progressively looses its aesthetic and transcendental aura to become a confrontation with Nature as a historical presence, whiose grief can no longer be separeted from that suffered by human beings in their historical lives. The essay's theorathical approach aims at demostrating what kind of poetical strategies enable this shift in the poetic paradigm of Nature and therefore confronts itself with contemporary debates on Anthropocene, too.
