Purpose: This editorial outlines the contributions collected in this special issue on Digital Academic Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practices and identify future research agenda. Methodology: The reasoning and motivation behind the special issue are outlined, and then we present a discussion linking the different papers and themes found in the special issue papers. Findings: The Editorial presents an overview of the papers gathered in the special issue and provides future directions for research lying at the intersection of Academic Entrepreneurship and Digital technologies fields. Implications for research: The editorial aims to identify insights that can inspire future research about the disruptive role of digital technologies for sustaining, enhancing and supporting the process of Academic entrepreneurship. Several stakeholders involved into the academic entrepreneurship process could benefit from the wide use of digital technologies such as, big data analytics, machine learning, cloud computing, 3D printing, e-Learning etc., to identify novel opportunities and to develop competences for entrepreneurship in the academic context. Originality. Originality resides in the adoption and valorization of the digital transformation caused by the digital technologies for the academic entrepreneurship.
