Lake Iseo became famous for the realization of The Floating Piers by the artist Christo Yavachev, who installed three floating piers that allowed the users to «walk on water». The installation was a success with over one million visitors and important economic and tourist impact on the area, as well as increased its international visibility. In order to capitalize this positive effects, a reflection is needed today, about a year after the event, on the future of the lake, taking into account that the Lombardy Region has provided important funding for the local administrations. This paper evaluates the effects of the landart project on the area, from a tourism and communication point of view, and it analyses the projects of development presented for the future. It concludes with the proposal of creating a regional network that involves the municipalities around the lake (the so-called G16) and it widens beyond the lake shores in the territories located at short distance, for the development of a new form of sustainable s-Low tourism.

Abstract
It concludes with the proposal of creating a regional network that involves the municipalities around the lake (the so-called G16) and it widens beyond the lake shores in the territories located at short distance, for the development of a new form of sustainable s-Low tourism.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
