The most common insects that are able to digest keratin are some Lepidoptera Tineidae as Tineola bisselliella (the common clothes moth), Tinea pellionella (the case-bearing clothes moth) and Trichophaga tapetzella (the tapestry moth), and Coleoptera Dermestidae belonging to genus Anthrenus and Attagenus. These species are present in textile industries and the damages are caused by larval stage. The phases of this work were: 1) monthly monitoring of insects in textile industries, also using new traps; 2) laboratory evaluations of the insects’ survival on wool textiles, treated with permetrin; 3) evaluations of the damages caused by different insects on same textiles; 4) laboratory tests to verify the efficacy of new a.i. against Lepidoptera Tineidae.
