The article offers an analysis of the intelletcual work of Heinrich Denifle. Through a study of his historical and philological work, particularly with respect to Luther and the rising of the Reformation, the contribution shows the complex ideological and cultural approach of this Domincan scholar to the issue of the End of the Middle Ages. The article stresses the relevance of the debate on Denifle's heritage for the historiography concerning the turning from the medieval centuries to the Modern Age.
