Una fortezza gagliarda e stravagante: modelli e disegni

In the decades-long history of the making of the fortress of Bergamo, many models and drawings have been produced, fundamental tools for illustrating and evaluating the design choices made from time to time by military captains and engineers in decision-making centres. If no physical evidence remains of the models, we have a fair number of drawings left. The different times of the construction site, especially the most problematic ones, are graphically fixed on these sheets according to various modes of representation: from the quick survey sketch, to the explanatory drawing supplemented with notes, up to very accurate and refined presentation sketches

Nella pluridecennale storia del farsi della fortezza di Bergamo sono stati prodotti molti modelli e disegni, strumenti fondamentali per illustrare e valutare nelle sedi decisionali, le scelte progettuali di volta in volta messe a punto da capitani e ingegneri militari. Se per i modelli non rimane ad oggi nessuna testimonianza fisica, per i disegni disponiamo di un discreto numero di elaborati. I diversi momenti del cantiere, soprattutto quelli più problematici, sono fissati graficamente su questi fogli secondo varie modalità di rappresentazione: dal veloce schizzo di rilievo, al disegno esplicativo arricchito da note, a quello di presentazione molto accurato e raffinato
