The well known problem of evaluating the dynamic heat storage capacity of a 1-D slab is analysed and extended to case of general boundary conditions and general periodic excitation profiles of any form. A general relation to calculate the storage capacity is obtained in closed form for the harmonic case. Equations in time and frequency domain to calculate the storage capacity under periodic (non-harmonic ) heating are also obtained. Some particular cases are analysed and examples are given to show the applicability of the analysis.
