Criminalità e confini statali: forme di cooperazione in Antico Regime attraverso l'esperienza della Repubblica di Lucca

The essay analyzes the problem of crime at the borders (and beyond the borders) in the Ancient Regime, with particular attention to the Republic of Lucca. Tracing the period between the late sixteenth century and the first half of the eighteenth century, we propose to highlight the gradual opening of the Republic of Lucca to forms of judicial cooperation, as the extradition of foreign criminals and the stipulation of treaties with neighboring states.
