Abstract
The manner in which we produce and consume energy is of crucial importance to sustainable development, as energy has deep relationships with each of its three dimensions - the economy, the environment and social welfare; energy is part of many environmental problems, including climate change, and must be part of the solution. Renewable energy increases diversity of energy supplies and can replace diminishing fossil fuel resources over the long run, their use in place of fossil fuels can substantially reduce greenhouse gases and other pollutants. Growth in demand for renewable energy in industrialised countries is leading to economies of scale; such growth enables increased access by the developing world, but numerous barriers remain and the cost of renewable energy technologies remains high, although it continues to fall. The deployment of renewable energy requires appropriate economic, market and regulatory instruments and the diffusion of new renewable energy technologies into markets are particularly important. New policies need to be developed to make energy an integral part of sustainable development and Governments can employ a number of strategies to improve the competitiveness of renewable energy. In order, the paper show the cost of solar collector plant, located near Rome (Italy), in relation to the costs of operation and maintenance too, because it is necessary to give, to the decision makers, the real cost and the feasibility of the renewable technologies, to improve their use and development trough the most accurate incentives, contributed to the climate change mitigation and the achievement of thresholds production by renewable resources. © 2008 IEEE.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
