Yves Bonnefoy’s work (1923-2016) is characterized by an intense chromatism. The red color takes in it a natural, musical, existential, mythical and religious connotation keeping progressively distance from any referential and descriptive value to acquire a fundamental symbolic depth. This paper, after a theorical introduction to the Bonnefoy’s theory of color, focuses on some poetical collections, the essay Le Nuage rouge, the novel-autobiographical essay L’Écharpe rouge, and others essays about the Arthurian legend, in order to show how this color and his dissemination in Bonnefoy’s work belongs to a sort of critical chromatism who could explain his moral significance and his vision of the world and literature.

Abstract
Yves Bonnefoy’s work (1923-2016) is characterized by an intense chromatism. The red color takes in it a natural, musical, existential, mythical and religious connotation keeping progressively distance from any referential and descriptive value to acquire a fundamental symbolic depth. This paper, after a theorical introduction to the Bonnefoy’s theory of color, focuses on some poetical collections, the essay Le Nuage rouge, the novel-autobiographical essay L’Écharpe rouge, and others essays about the Arthurian legend, in order to show how this color and his dissemination in Bonnefoy’s work belongs to a sort of critical chromatism who could explain his moral significance and his vision of the world and literature.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
