The essay assumes the «Three Italies» vision and presents data on contagion and territory, en¬visaging Lombardy as an epidemic epicenter. The aim is to show of this region the specificities – with an in-depth study on the Valseriana outbreak – which may have affected the infection intensity, highlighting the fragilities due to high population density, strong commuter con¬nectivity, high pollution rates and the organizational structure of health and assistance. These fragilities will be considered to envisage a new, more balanced and sustainable way of living territories.

Abstract

The essay assumes the «Three Italies» vision and presents data on contagion and territory, en¬visaging Lombardy as an epidemic epicenter. The aim is to show of this region the specificities – with an in-depth study on the Valseriana outbreak – which may have affected the infection intensity, highlighting the fragilities due to high population density, strong commuter con¬nectivity, high pollution rates and the organizational structure of health and assistance. These fragilities will be considered to envisage a new, more balanced and sustainable way of living territories.
