During the first half of the 20th century, the town of Bergamo was affected by urban interventions of great importance. In the Upper Town, a conservative rehabilitation plan was designed that will mark an evolution of the restoration discipline; in the Lower Town the so-called Piacentiniano Center will be built, an administrative, financial and cultural heart, overlapping the historical plot without completely canceling its memory and fundamental characteristics. The restoration of the cloister of Santa Marta by the engineer and architect Luigi Angelini fits into the latter context. While being a child of its time, it expresses an idea of restoration as a tool to read and understand the past, placing it at the service of a contemporary enhancement of the territory. A goal that Angelini tries to reach on the basis of the hypotheses of fluidity, sharing, transversality. A very modern approach which confronts today with the new major redevelopment project of the Piacentiniano Centre that the municipal administration of Bergamo is carrying out.

Abstract
A very modern approach which confronts today with the new major redevelopment project of the Piacentiniano Centre that the municipal administration of Bergamo is carrying out.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
