This article aims to analyze the aesthetical nexus between science and poetry as it emerges in particular in Christian Bök’s Crystallography and The Xenotext. Focusing explicitly on how scientific language and epistemological patterns are employed in these works as formal and compositional devices more than as metaphors or simple suggestions, I will argue that such books epitomize a potential “microphysics of the poetic word”, where forms and laws underlying science itself defines constitutive elements of the textual composition.
