The paper, which is divided in two main sections, aims to give an overview of those practices currently implemented in the German literary field to convey and promote Italian contemporary literature and that contribute to the ongoing development of a cultural transfer between Italy and Germany. After presenting facts about the presence of Italian contemporary authors as well as some initiative that helps promote Italian literature on the German literary market, the paper will move on to analyse the practices that have marked the publication in Germany of two significant Italian literary works – Stefano D’Arrigo’s monumental novel Horcynus Orca and L’amica geniale, the first instalment of Elena Ferrante’s best-selling saga – while trying to highlight the different editorial intentions that have not only in4uenced the marketing strategies, but also the translation of these two texts and subsequently also the image of Italian contemporary literature (and culture) in Germany.

Abstract
The paper, which is divided in two main sections, aims to give an overview of those practices currently implemented in the German literary field to convey and promote Italian contemporary literature and that contribute to the ongoing development of a cultural transfer between Italy and Germany. After presenting facts about the presence of Italian contemporary authors as well as some initiative that helps promote Italian literature on the German literary market, the paper will move on to analyse the practices that have marked the publication in Germany of two significant Italian literary works – Stefano D’Arrigo’s monumental novel Horcynus Orca and L’amica geniale, the first instalment of Elena Ferrante’s best-selling saga – while trying to highlight the different editorial intentions that have not only in4uenced the marketing strategies, but also the translation of these two texts and subsequently also the image of Italian contemporary literature (and culture) in Germany.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
