As in many other fields, also the textile and cloth industries are deeply involved in an innovation process. Until nowadays, the automation has mainly introduced only CAM systems in these industries. The CAD recent developments and the continuous increase of commercial hardware resources has encouraged several research groups to investigate the physical behaviour of clothes in order to develop tools to perform robust and realistic simulation of wore cloths. This paper will present a brief but comprehensive view of the available theories and method, that will be the starting point for the formulation of a new model.

Abstract

As in many other fields, also the textile and cloth industries are deeply involved in an innovation process. Until nowadays, the automation has mainly introduced only CAM systems in these industries. The CAD recent developments and the continuous increase of commercial hardware resources has encouraged several research groups to investigate the physical behaviour of clothes in order to develop tools to perform robust and realistic simulation of wore cloths. This paper will present a brief but comprehensive view of the available theories and method, that will be the starting point for the formulation of a new model.
