The Italian job - The Diversification of Italian crime

An increasing ethnic Chinese population in Italy is encouraging a rise in criminal activity by ethnic Chinese groups. • This includes intra-community crimes such as extortion and theft, but also involves transnational human and drugs trafficking, often in co-operation with groups on the Chinese mainland. • Growing links between ethnic Chinese groups and groups such as Cosa Nostra and 'Ndrangheta have the potential to increase Chinese involvement in Italian organised crime.
