The article analyses the topic of local or 'community museums' with a focus on the dimention of domesticity as opposed to a more 'political' understanding of the scope of contemporary museums: the argumentation tries to underline the subtile boundary between the two concepts, exemplified by the analysis of a case-study, that of MUBIG in Milan.
