A few years ago, we analyzed Deudas contraídas (2016) by Ana Rossetti from the perspective of Zygmunt Bauman’s concept of “liquid modernity” (2004). We proposed a reading of the work from the loss of the solid character of Modernity, replaced by uncertainty and individualism, emphasizing the author’s purpose of raising awareness among readers. Although the book portrays a self in crisis, denounces identity drifts, and suggests that there are only victims, executioners, and indifferent witnesses, we now recognize the need to study the work from another epistemological paradigm: Transmodernity. Theorized by philosopher Rosa María Rodríguez Magda (2004) and emerged at the end of the 20th century, Transmodernity describes the new demand for reharmonization, rationalization, reconstruction of the subject, and optimism, as a way to overcome the postmodern crisis and pessimism. Through this lens, the whole structure of Deudas contraídas (2016) and its final composition gain renewed meaning: after plunging the reader into discouragement and the collapse of values and morality, Rossetti tries to induce a change in attitude that can create a new, more encouraging reality.

Abstract
Through this lens, the whole structure of Deudas contraídas (2016) and its final composition gain renewed meaning: after plunging the reader into discouragement and the collapse of values and morality, Rossetti tries to induce a change in attitude that can create a new, more encouraging reality.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
