This paper shows how the literary interests of Annibal Caro – well versed in the comic writing – influence some passages of the opening letter in Bernardo Tasso’s first epistolary collection. The analysis focuses on some stylistic registers rarely used by Tasso, such as the «faceto» register. This register can be observed in Tasso’s letter to Annibal Caro, according to a praxis common in Sixteenth century epistolography, which acquires a special meaning in Tasso’s anthology.

Abstract
This paper shows how the literary interests of Annibal Caro – well versed in the comic writing – influence some passages of the opening letter in Bernardo Tasso’s first epistolary collection. The analysis focuses on some stylistic registers rarely used by Tasso, such as the «faceto» register. This register can be observed in Tasso’s letter to Annibal Caro, according to a praxis common in Sixteenth century epistolography, which acquires a special meaning in Tasso’s anthology.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
