In the mid-2000s, the prolific storyteller Evgenii Grishkovests wrote the novel The Shirt and the short-novel Rivers. They are here at the center of an analysis that highlights Grishkovests’s point of view on the Siberian province. Defined through negations, Siberia is for the author a provincial ‘defector’, a ‘soul place’. While renouncing to identify it in a specific geograph ical-spatial dimension, he tries to reconstruct its genius loci through the flow of memories. Griškovests’s narrative style, criticized by many for its light tone and lexical simplicity, proves to be the suitable medium to involve the contemporary reader of middle-literature in a series of original reflections on the relationship between man and the environment.

Abstract
In the mid-2000s, the prolific storyteller Evgenii Grishkovests wrote the novel The Shirt and the short-novel Rivers. They are here at the center of an analysis that highlights Grishkovests’s point of view on the Siberian province. Defined through negations, Siberia is for the author a provincial ‘defector’, a ‘soul place’. While renouncing to identify it in a specific geograph ical-spatial dimension, he tries to reconstruct its genius loci through the flow of memories. Griškovests’s narrative style, criticized by many for its light tone and lexical simplicity, proves to be the suitable medium to involve the contemporary reader of middle-literature in a series of original reflections on the relationship between man and the environment.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
