The representation of Russia in the works of French traveling writers has given shape to a variegated constellation of narratives that, from the eighteenth century to the contemporary, try to tame a space and a culture that is always perceived as other-than-self. Through the works of Théophile Gautier, André Gide, Sylvain Tesson, Sylvie Germain, the author traces a path that is not exhaustive but certainly significant with respect to the topic choosen.
