Bergamo: una città e il suo “nuovo centro”

The contribution highlights the distinctive features of the historical urban structure of the city of Bergamo: a double center with the historic city founded on the hill and descending with the boroughs toward the plain; the modern city on the plain, configuring a 'double center'; the matrix of water, so relevant in defining the form and characters of urban (and contextual) development; the progressive rearrangement of the road network, so strongly conditioned by the hill; the decisive elements of the urban transformation of the city, starting with the defined Piacentinian center; and the more recent redevelopment trajectories.

Il contributo mette in luce i tratti distintivi della struttura urbana storica della città di Bergamo: un doppio centro con la città storica fondata sul colle e a discendere con i borghi verso il piano; la città moderna sul piano, a configurare un 'doppio centro'; la matrice dell'acqua, così rilevante nel definire forma e caratteri dello sviluppo urbano (e di contesto; il riassetto progressivo della rete viaria, così fortemente condizionata dal colle; gli elementi decisivi della trasformazione urbana della città, a partire dal centro definito Piacentiniano; le traiettorie di riqualificazione più recenti.
