The paper attempts to analyze W.G. Sebald's last work "Austerlitz" (2001), which was strongly influenced by the reading of Jean Améry's texts, especially "Jenseits von Schuld und Sühne" (1966). The relationship between Sebald and Améry and way such as "Austerlitz" has been conceived shows the author's tendency to come to terms with the issue of the Shoah in a "hetero-directed" way, starting from the defense of the subject and his/her right to transmit the truth.

Abstract
The paper attempts to analyze W.G. Sebald's last work "Austerlitz" (2001), which was strongly influenced by the reading of Jean Améry's texts, especially "Jenseits von Schuld und Sühne" (1966). The relationship between Sebald and Améry and way such as "Austerlitz" has been conceived shows the author's tendency to come to terms with the issue of the Shoah in a "hetero-directed" way, starting from the defense of the subject and his/her right to transmit the truth.File allegato/i alla scheda:
